Support the Westview Learning Center

Give All Kids the Opportunity to Succeed Academically

The YMCA believes every child deserves the opportunity to succeed in school and lead a healthy life.
But not every child is lucky enough to have the financial resources and family support to help them do well at school. This is why the Y started a new Afterschool Program, the Westview Learning Center, which is a program designed to help every student perform their best academically.

This program has helped over 40 Westview students this school year. These are students who otherwise would have not completed their work, who are having trouble with grades, and some who desperately need a little extra one-on-one time with an adult.

Site Director Sarah Murphy said,

“Overall we are making stronger relationships with teachers, who tell us what their students need. They give us specific assignments and tasks for the students to complete. This leads to more success in the classroom for the students.”

Many of these students are sponsored by the YMCA to attend the program at low or no cost to their families. Would you consider helping us give one child a week or a month of our program? Or, would you consider volunteering to tutor?

The cost for the program is $45 per child per week. Our goal is to sponsor 10 children for the remainder of the school year, or 20 weeks. Our goal is to raise $9,000 to support the kids who need this program the most.

Your one time donation, weekly or monthly donation, is greatly appreciated. To donate, click on the link here or stop by the YMCA's Customer Service Desk with your check, with Westview Learning Center in the memo.

If you would like to volunteer 1 hour per week to tutor a child, contact Michelle Spiva at or call her at 647-1616.

Thank you for your support!
